I need help to partition my hard drive on my Windows machine. How do I begin the process? Do I need to back-up my files on the main hard-drive before starting or it is entirely unnecessary? What precautions should I follow in carrying out the partitioning? Once I am done with the task at hand, what do I do next? I would be grateful for simple steps to accomplish my mission.

When is a computer’s hard disks referred to as Just a Bunch of Disks? Differentiate between RAID and JBOD? Which one is a better option for storage and why? What is spanning technique used in JBOD? Why IS JBOD referred to as a risky option? What are the advantages of JBOD? 

Can people have access to my external hard drive when I connect to the internet? If so, how do I prevent them from accessing my hard drive? Will activating my operating system firewall prevent the external hard drive from being infected with virus from the internet? Can I put a password on an external hard drive to stop illegal access whiles surfing the net?

In my pc I want to use two hard drive i.e. second hard drive as slave. I have connected the 2nd HDD to motherboard’s SATA port using SATA cable but pc is not showing any other drives in My Computer. I have also to connect the 2nd hard drive using SATA to USB cable but not successful. Suggest some way to do this because data transferring from one HDD to other HDD by any other means (by pen drive or by LAN cable) except SATA cable is very time consuming.

I own the WD Cloud device 2TB and a while ago I bought a WD Green 2TB that now lives inside a Logilink UA0107 USB 3 case. Although the drive is perfectly usable through Windows 8 and Ubuntu box, WD Cloud refuses to recognize it. I've formatted the drive a few times (exFAT, NTFS, ext4) but nothing changed. What can be done?

I want to partition my hard drive but facing a problem with formatting. The problem is that when I tried to make partition it does not allow me saying that "Some files may be damaged or engaged Please connect microsoft for more help". If anyone knows about this problem help me.

I tested my laptop for Hard Disk test i.e., Short DST, it failed in this test and sometimes my laptop shuts down before giing any warnings. I am curious to know what could be the possible reason for this and as Short DST is failed is there any threat to my Data residing on HDD?
