How to solve the continuous restart problem?

Hello elamaran,

Well there are many reasons for this but there are 2 more possible reasons. One is that your power supply can't supply the needed energy. And next faulty software?

About the power supply have you noticed something wrong with it? Fan not turning on? Power source or do you have a UPS / voltage regulator or the like? So please check if it's having a low voltage. Then it might solve the problem by changing the power supply.

Next is its software. Try placing the CD of your OS. The installation disk in your drive. If it prompts you to install/boot on the CD then please do. It just says that it's a software issue.

There are still many reasons yet please do these 2 first. Hope it helps.

Kyle John is right, there are so many factors to consider when your computer keeps on restarting every now and then. Most often than not, the causes of this error are related to hardware that is beginning to go down. Just like when I fixed my mother’s friend’s computer. It restarts from time to time.

I found out that its problem is the built-in video card. When I formatted her computer, it worked smoothly. It didn’t restart just like before. I haven’t installed yet its video card’s driver and it’s currently using Windows’ primary video driver. All functions are smooth. But when I installed the video card’s driver, the problem came back. So I removed the video card’s driver and kept using the primary video that is available with Windows. This is one example of a hardware that is beginning to go down and the effect is restarting occasionally.

Hello Elamaran,

In this case of your PC there are many possibilities why your system keeps on restarting several times.

This problem occurs when one of your hardware in the system unit failed to perform and drivers that incompatible with the hardware. You have to re-check the following hardware drivers and hardware.

Check the power supply fans if it rotates in a normal speed. Have no noise on it.

  1. Clean your motherboard if it has a dust that causing it reduces the cooling inside.
  2. Again exhaust fans and CPU fan must be checked if it rotates.
  3. The peripheral component of the system unit has installed well. Check the pins of card like video card, LAN card, or another card. Be sure your card suit and fix well in the slot.
  4. Check the motherboard capacitor if it leaks or let it check with one who knows that part.
  5. In switching the main power check your monitor screens if there’s a message of a low battery in the CMOS.
  6. Check the wiring if it sill complete or no wounds on wiring that causes grounding.
  7. Check the RAM. If you have multiple ram isolate the first ram, second ram and last ram to be sure all are working well.
  8. Check the Hard disk if has an abnormal sound. Try to have a disk defragmenter in your hard disk partitions.
  9. Is there a blue screen you encounter if it has tried to give us specific detail about it.
  10. If found some error after operating system boot up give us also a detail on it.
  11. The drivers of the hardware must be exact. Check the windows version first before attempting to install drivers.
  12. Try to install some utilities software if you have to enhance or boost your system.

Sometimes the hardware of your PC need to be replaced in order for you to have comfortable when doing a lot of jobs.

We have to accept the reality that the hardware has a life span and it depends on how you maintain it.

It can have different causes such as: The drivers are missing or corrupted. Components that is overheating. May be also caused by a virus. Hardware failure or software malfunction.

Your computer may continuously reboot if one of its memory loose contact in the memory modules. Try to remove all the memory and insert it again. Check also your power supply if its power plugs are properly connected into the motherboard and hard drive.

Check also your bios settings if it has changed, you need to reset it in its Optimal default settings. Save it and allow to reboot. The main enemy of the computer is overheating. The computer that is running hot will cause the system to run unstable and will lead to reboot again and again and also decreases the life of its components. Try to put enough exhaust fan and blower. If a computer is infected with the virus it may also lead to continuous restart it depends how strong the virus is. Try to scan your PC with your antivirus, if your antivirus is not updated it will not receive the latest database to detect the new created virus. So if nothing happens, I will suggest a reformat.
