Hey there,
-
I would like to ask help with my recently reformatted computer. My computer was attacked by virus, so I will need to reformat. From Windows 2000, I updated to Windows XP.
-
I am happy with the new set up except that whenever it loads, the password screen would still come up even though I do not have a password.
How do I get rid of that?
Thanks.
How to get rid of Password Screen on start up?
In order to get rid of the welcome screen you need to follow the following steps:
-
Click on Start
-
Click on Run and type “control userpasswords2” and click OK.
-
U must uncheck the checkbox that says “Users must enter a username and password to use this computer” on the user’s tab and click Apply.
-
Select the user you want to log on and click OK.
-
Click on OK when a window appears asking you to enter a username and password that will be used to logon automatically.
-
Go to Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change the way users log on or off. Uncheck both box that says “Use the Welcome Screen” and “Use Fast User Switching”
Hope this helps.

Good Day!
when you created 2 accounts excluding the built-in administrator account, windows automatically go to login screen where you select which account you want to login to. For auto login during windows startup, open RUN window CTRL + R then type control userpasswords2 the uncheck "user must enter a username and password to use this computer" then click Apply, enter your username and password just leave as blank if you don't have a password and click OK.
