Error while downloading Avira version 9 from File Hippo

Asked By 0 points N/A Posted on -

Hi all,

I attempted to download Avira version 9 from File Hippo, which was recommended to me as one of the better versions and when the download finished and I opened to install, I got an error message telling me – "The Package Is Broken. Try downloading again." So, I went to Snap files and same thing happened.  I assume, Avira doesn’t want you downloading older versions!

Another program recommended to me was Avast 4.8.1368 and it won't update and the registration doesn’t work, but the offline mode registration works. Just unable to update. Someone told me some of these companies try to discourage you from downloading older versions.

Has anyone experienced this?

I need your help.

I faced the same problem but I got it fixed. Just follow these instructions to manually update of VPS:

1.    Download this VPS update of avast! Virus Definitions Update from here –> It is approximately 30MB. Save it to your computer.

2.    Locate where you saved the downloaded file and double click it. Virus definitions update will start.

After doing the above steps don’t forget to restart your computer. Then you will see avast working as a charm.

If you want to install Avira antivirus, you need to install the version compatible with your computer. If you install an old version, the tendency is, it might not be compatible with your operating system. Also, for Avira antivirus 9, 10, and 12, the updates for these versions have been disabled since April 26, 2018 because they reached end of life or EOL.

As of this moment, it is not recommended to still install these versions because none of them will work. If you want to try Avira antivirus, you can download the free version: Avira Free Security Suite. You can also download from FileHippo: Avira Free Antivirus. It supports Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10.

It requires Intel Pentium 4 or faster processor, 2 GB RAM, and 2 GB free space.
