Windows startup failed because of error with Avast! Antivirus

Hi guys,

An error message appears every time I try to start up Windows. This message was a little bit different before. It has changed after I removed the rpcqt.dll file with the help of Avast! 6 Free Antivirus. The message I found before was this:

"The file could not be run because it contains a virus."

Note that message was also from RunDLL, not Avast! The new message is this:

"There was a problem starting C:UsersMatthewAppDataLocalTempRpcqt.dll. The specified module could not be found."

Does anyone have any idea about this file? Why do I receive an error every time I start my PC, and how can I get rid of this situation?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dylangutierrez,

  1. You can stop the execution of that program permanently removing your errors at startup.
  2. You don't have to install any 3rd party software.
  3. You windows have many administrative tools for expert windows users.
  4. Please be very careful with using the tools which I am going to mention any wrong move going to send your PC boot failures and all.
  5. Just go to run, by pressing winkey + r or any other method.
  6. Now type msconfig and press enter.
  7. Now a screen appears i have attached a screenshot.

system comfiguration-start up-kaspersky

Click on the startup tab and something like above appears, now remove that error causing files like run dll or any other stuff. Which you think is causing the problem and any suspicious file which you don't use at all.

Now click ok and restart PC. The error message vanished.

That solves your problem.
