Dear All,

I've recently purchased an iPod touch 3G 16GB. Unfortunately my iPod's software has totally crashed. I just don't know what happened. Now it has nothing in it. I tried to restore it, but failed. What should I do now? Please help me.

Regards,

Hamim.

Dear Hamim,

I've a solution for you. First of all, you need a laptop or a computer. If you're using a Mac, that would be better and Internet connection. If all is set now, let's get to work.

  1. Connect your iPod to your Laptop/Computer. Wait for a while, let your iPod detect  your iTunes, sometimes it takes time. Once it connects then, follow the instruction carefuly.
  2. Hold both upper switch and home button until Apple logo appears.
  3. When you see the Apple logo on your iPod screen, take off your figure from the upper switch but keep holding down the home button, until you see the Apple logo and the data cable's .
  4. When you see it, it means your iPod now in recovery mode. You can see a message in your Laptop/ computer's iTunes screen, like your iPod detected as recovery mode.
  5. Now just click on restore, you will restore and update.

Restoring will take time. Once it restored your iPod is ready to use again. I think these will help you. Let me know whether it's works or not. Cheers!

I've turned iPod touch to recovery mode but it doesn't appear in iTunes software. I tried by turning my iPod off and on and turn it again in recovery mode but still it's not working. Thanks.

Hamim,

Could you please check your iTunes, whether it was recently updated or not. If not updated, then update it first and then connect to restore. I think this time your iPod will detect. Thanks.

Hey,

Thanks it's working. I've updated my iTunes and then connected my iPod, with my computer; then it detected with iTunes. I restored my iPod without any hassle. Your solution really works well. Take care.

Hi Hamim,

The only way is to restore, but before doing that, could you please restart your iPod once because, if your iPod crashes then there would be a screen showing on your iPod screen, which is stuck. If your iPod restarts, then it would be easy to restore newly. To restart your iPod, hold the Upper switch and home button for a while, you will see a apple logo and then take off your fingers then try restore. Think this will help you. Thanks.

Every time you need to restore an iOS device, always make sure that you are using the latest iTunes. Most common cause of synchronization and restoration error in iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch is an outdated iTunes. When you have the latest iTunes, this ensures that your device can be detected and will appear in the iTunes application.

Even if your iPod touch had crashed and stopped working, you can always make it run again by restoring it to factory default. This will delete everything on the device and will restore the default data and settings built-in to the device. Once the iPod touch is restored, it will run like the first time you bought it.
