I had a problem when starting my Windows XP machine. I keep getting mchost.exe error on startup. Â This error occurs after an update with McAfee Antivirus. I checked on the Task Manager for this process and kill it. And then I restarted the system but only get the same issue. What could this be? Please help me fix this.

Mchost.exe – Application Error after updating McAfee Antivirus
The file that is causing the error mchost.exe is a file related to McAfee and it is a part of McAfee Core API. When you updated it the new features might be damaged the file and you need to repair it.

Uninstall the whole McAfee Security center and its add-ons

Download and install Ccleaner and run it to clean the remaining registries of McAfee.
