I need to deploy Forefront Endpoint Protection (FEP) 2010.  In order to do this, do I have to use System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)?  Please advise.

Yes, you can use System Center Configuration Manager. Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection, the next version of forefront Client Security, will enable businesses to simplify and improve endpoint protection while greatly reducing infrastructure costs. Single engine enhances client machine performance and detection capabilities by minimizing end-user disruptions. The Forefront Client Security agent as well as the Forefront Client Security Management Console both support Windows Server 2008. The FCS agent also protects Windows Server Core and Microsoft Cluster Services.

Hello Kellen,

I will guide you in deploying the Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 . In order to do that please make sure that you have already uninstalled anti-malware third party products as FEP 2010 cannot do it during the process. Yes you have to use SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) Package also known as FEP for clients. To deploy Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 please follow the following steps:

1- First create the FEP policies as per your requirement. Choose the suitable parameters like policy precedence etc.

2- Once FEP polices are created, set the FEP protection definition according to the parameters set in previous step.

3- Now start the FEP protection install setup.

This will solve your problem.

Thanks
