Mchost.exe – Application Error after updating McAfee Antivirus

I had a problem when starting my Windows XP machine. I keep getting mchost.exe error on startup.  This error occurs after an update with McAfee Antivirus. I checked on the Task Manager for this process and kill it. And then I restarted the system but only get the same issue. What could this be? Please help me fix this.

Mchost.exe – Application Error after updating McAfee Antivirus

The file that is causing the error mchost.exe is a file related to McAfee and it is a part of McAfee Core API. When you updated it the new features might be damaged the file and you need to repair it.

• Uninstall the whole McAfee Security center and its add-ons
• Download and install Ccleaner and run it to clean the remaining registries of McAfee.
• This file is located in C:Program FilesCommon Files . You can go there and just delete this file specifically.
• Sometimes in your system, there might be an application that will be colliding with this file and so the error is coming again and again upon each startup. It is very lengthy process to locate that file and delete it, so its better if you delete it and install the ESET NOD32 Antivirus.
