I want to use Linux a try, and I picked the Ubuntu variant. I have some problems with the Internet connection though. I have a dial-up modem connection, and all the info needed in order for me to connect are the username and password (which I have).
Where can I enter this info in Ubuntu? Step-by-step please.

Internet connection system in ubuntu.
The process of internet connection is divided in many sections.
1.     Installation:

Install the network-manager. Sometimes you will find it as default.

You must right click on the applet to manage. It will also used as activate or deactivate network connections.
2.     Configuration:

now you know how to install internet connection in Ubuntu. Now you need to configure it.

just check it first is The nm-applet working to manage your network. Check it from your desktop.

now you just did the main part of installation. Then you can see some troubleshooting option to manage your network
