Each time I start my pc, there is a message on the system tray with an icon saying "windows has blocked some programs".

Any idea how to stop it?

You can start by finding the list of services and programs that were being blocked by your computer.

Find the notification area and click Blocked Startup Programs.

Here you can see the lists of your blocked programs and services upon start up.

From here, you can disable the blocked program or the blocked service by following these steps:

1. Start the Software Explorer in Windows Defender by clicking Show or remove blocked startup programs

2. Select the startup program or startup service in the Software Explorer that you want to be removed.

3. Select the Disable button, and click Yes for confirmation.

I hope this helps!

In Microsoft Windows Vista, you see a warning message from the notification area saying that “Windows has blocked some startup programs”. This warning is triggered if a service or a program with UAC or User Account Control restrictions attempted to start during the Windows startup process or during user logon. Programs or services that require UAC confirmation are blocked by default by Software Explorer.

The User Account Control is a set of infrastructure technologies that assists in preventing malicious applications, occasionally called “malware”, from damaging your machine. Before fixing the problem, you need to know first which programs are being blocked. To see the list of blocked programs and services, click on the “Blocked startup programs” icon located in the notification area and then select “Run blocked program” menu list.

To fix the problem, you need to decide whether to run the blocked program or service, disable it, or remove the blocked program from startup. If you want to run the blocked program, click on the “Blocked startup programs” icon on the notification area, point to “Run blocked program”, and then click on the program or service you want to start.

If you want to disable the blocked program, click on the “Blocked startup programs” icon on the notification area then select “Show or remove blocked startup programs”. Find and select the startup program or service in the Software Explorer. Click Disable and then Yes to confirm. If you wish to remove the program or service from startup, you can use the “Programs and Features” in the Control Panel.

Click Start then type without quotes “appwiz.cpl” in the search box and then hit Enter. In the “Programs and Features” list, select the program then click Uninstall/Change.
