Hard Drive error and needs formatting

Hello Techyv team,

I have a problem with my external hard drive. Sometimes when I plug my external hard drive on my laptop, I get a message that my external hard drive needs formatting, but it didn't ask me before whenever I used my external hard drive.

It doesn't ask me every time. I regularly clean my external hard drive and do de-fragmentation. So I really don't know where the problem's at.

Can you please give me some more direction or help because, I have no idea what the problem might be or where to look for it.

Kind Regards.

Hard Drive error and needs formatting

Hello there,

This issue is actually mind blowing, especially if you have an important file in your hard drive. As far as I know in external hard drives, sometimes when you leave them plugged in your computer in a USB with every reboot, it can also cause some files to be corrupted. And here’s what you should do so you will not harm your hard drive. Hope this can help you.

Go to my computer and double click your desktop, then know the letter of your external hard drive. Now click the start button on your window and run, then type CMD. A DOS screen will pop-up, in the c:  type the letter of your external hard drive followed by a colon like f:

If you see f: type chkdsk /f and hit enter.

It will check the external hard drive and it will also attempt to fix corrupted files, it will actually fix this problem. I hope this will help you.
