This is a very common issue which is occurred by a Trojan and the removal of it resolves the problem easily. Navigate to Start > and open Windows Explore > Go to Tools > Folder Options > View tab and locate the “Show hidden files and folders” and check it. Remove the check of “Hide extensions for known file types” and ““Hide protected operating system files “> Click Apply > Ok.

Now open the Search and type "autorun.inf" and search for it including hidden files. The search results will find and display the “autorun.inf”. You can either delete or rename it with different extension and issue will be fixed.

Or you can do the above using command prompt easily. Go to command prompt and type d:> attrib -r -s -h autorun.inf and d:> del autorun.inf .Reboot your PC and check for the error. If the problem still persists Navigate to Start- > run -> Type “regsvr32/ i shell32.dll”and press ok. Now a message box is prompt saying DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in shell32.dll succeeded. After that reboot the system.

It may be because of some virus or some registry error. In both cases you have to select the drive then when the option come to how to run the drive then click on explorer and then check mark the following " Always use this program ….."

The second permanent solution for your problem is to go to DOS and take some actions to solve this problem. Go to START and then click on RUN and type CMD here type " cd: "

Then type " atrib -r -h -s autorun.inf " when you done then press d: for D drive and repeat the same process for all of your drives. It will solve your problem.

The third method for solving your problem is to run a full virus scan on your drive and make it virus free. It will solve your problem also.

Hi Dear,
This is not much higher problem. It is just the result of an auto run virus. You will not open your drive by double click on it. But you can open the drive by run menu. For example if you want to open D drive so type " D: " (without quotes) In Run and press enter, your desired drive will open.
If you want to remove permanently this error so type these commands in DOS.
"Drive Letter":
attrib *.inf -r -s -h
del *.inf
attrib *.exe -r -s -h
del *.exe
attrib *.bat -r -s -h
del *.bat
You have to run these commands in all drives after each other. then just restart your computer.
This will be removed.
I hope this will help you a lot

Thanks

Maybe the problem you are getting is due to a virus that spread through .inf files and starys in your computer. Try deleting this by going in to your Command Prompt and then type the following command:

D:

attrib *.inf -r -s -h

del *.inf

Restart your computer. Alternatively, you can right-click on Drive D: and click on Properties. Go to the Security tab and click Continue. Click on System and tick the Full Control check box. Click the Administrator and tick the Full Control check box.
