Failed to run software update on OSX 10.7 due to error

Hello guys,

I recently downloaded and installed OSX 10.7. However, I failed to run Software Update and was flashed with the following alert:

'Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem. The file “index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog” couldn’t be found on the server “swscan.apple.com”.

I repaired permissions, created new user accounts, but the issue still persists. The internet connection is steady. Software Update System Preference has no entries in the "Software Installed' tab.

Help needed. Please help me with a solution.

Thanks in advance.

Try checking your operating system’s internet options if it is set to a proxy setting. I am not familiar with Mac operating system. If installing your operating system did not encounter any problem and it finished successfully, it is possible that the problem is with the server and not with your computer.

Try doing the software update some other time. It is possible that the server is currently updating some of the update files and that is when you perform the software update. The update catalog is missing maybe because it is being updated and can not be accessed at that time. Just try again later.

You can also try scanning your computer for possible infection. Update your antivirus then run a full system scan on your computer. You may also try checking your computer for any possible errors.
