Hi carmen, i have read your problem about fatal error your getting with your ubuntu operating system. To configure the operating system all you  have to do is you should have more than one version of ubuntu preferably in ISo form ona a local drive. You can start with using the old version like using 7.10 with 350MB of ram and the i8042.noloop flag. Get to the install screen, follow on screen instruction up to your desired version.  After 30 minutes of trying yet you still what you want to achieve try to follow the primrose path to Suns'. VirtualBox: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads. In order for your to work on your Microsoft Pc, you need to make some changes manually as well. Try install Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop for Virtual PC 2007. Create a new Virtual machine, start the Live CD version of ubuntu from a cd or the ISO file in safe graphics mode. Install ubuntu onto the new virtual hard disk and reboot.
