The difference is simple, the Media SOS came to replace the XPlay and correct his mistakes. From there you can see which is more efficient.
With the Media OS, you can easily copy your files (music, photos, videos) from your phone and from other gadgets. It's very simple to use

Both Xplay and Media SOS are media backup tools which come in handy when you have several hundred media files and managing them all becomes a difficult daily task. They are pretty close in terms of performance, though Xplay is being retired and it is recommended for all Xplay users to eventually migrate to some other product.
One alternative is "CopyTrans", which automatically copies media from iPod to the computer and imports it into the iTunes. This is a paid program, but even the free version, which is limited to 250 tracks per transfer, is quite useful. It is available for download here.
