I forgot the Passcode of my iPHONE and wanted to know if I can reset my Passcode or Format my iPHONE from outside. Any steps to achieve this would be great

Once there was lot of work around to access your iPhone if you have forgotten it's passcode.
But my latest research and testing suggests only one sure ethical way is working now, that is:

Sync your iPhone with your PC

Put it in DFU mode, by rebooting it – holding down power button and home button at the same time for 10 sec, till you see Apple logo, then release the power button but keep holding the home button till the message 'Connect to iTunes's with iTunes logo appears.

Now on your computer, already open iTunes, will display found a iPhone device in recovery mode and will ask if you want to restore. Click the restore button and wait for the iOS download and install.

Sync your phone back to resync data and you are good to enjoy it, as you did before you set and forgot the password.
