I am working on converting windows applications, so it can be used with SQL server and Informix database. In a SQL server, the return data type of the SUM () function is the same as the data type of the column begin summed. So, if I sum integer field I get integer data type. It appears in Informix, that no matter what I SUM (), I get a float data type.

I have two questions:

1-Is there a setting that could change this?

2-What other aggregate functions does this apply to?

I am confused. DISTINCT or GROUP BY which one has a better performance in Informix database? I am new to the Informix database. By the way, in my Select query there is no aggregate function. It’s a direct Select query with WHERE clause and I used DISTINCT, but one of my seniors told me that GROUP BY has a better performance than DISTINCT. Is it true? Please let me know the details or post any article url explaining this issue.

I would like someone to help me with migration that I must execute soon. I will migrate an older Informix database to a newer Oracle 11g database. This is my first big migration experience and I have some questions.

First, I would like to know if Oracle Migration workbench already does what Oracle says and migrates easily or should I expect problems with its usage? My second question is, if I must do the migration manually, which steps do you recommend? I really need any help, suggestions and advice on this issue.

Hi there, Since MS Windows 7 was installed on the laptop, MS Windows 7 Recovery from Virus was downloaded this weekend.  However, after the installation all photos, programs and documents were hidden. 

I tried to Google the solution and an expert suggested the use of Grindsoft Trojan Killer in a forum.  The Killer was downloaded and most importantly it worked fine.  All hidden photos, programs and documents were shown again.

I was using windows 7 for past few months however recently I needed to install Windows XP on my computer. But can't remove win 7 and reinstall XP professional. Its keep saying: Stop error 0x0000007b.

Is there an XP format tool that needs to be used first? Can anyone help me out to get rid of this error?

I have this Sony 2 GB flash disk and it has this folder called the 'RECYCLER'.

Every time I transfer some files especially folders into the flash disk the don't open. I have tried to scan this flash disk so many times but nothing seems to be happening!

Last week I purchased a new MS Office Professional Plus 2010from Microsoft. Then I just installed it in my computer. All of the sudden I am getting this error code 0x8007232B when I open Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010; it has something to do with activation.

When I entered my product key it did not ask me to activate anything, so I'm not sure why I am getting this error.

Recently I bought new laptop with an Intel I5 microprocessor 64bit. It came with Microsoft Home Premium installed on it. I just purchased Microsoft 7 Professional and after downloading it I tried to install it, it immediately stops and shows me following:  

ERROR 0x80070002 cannot findboot.wim file

Therefore the system is stuck and upgrade cannot be done. Does anyone else have same problem and know how to fix this? Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance.
