Hi,

Recently I bought new laptop with an Intel I5 microprocessor 64bit. It came with Microsoft Home Premium installed on it. I just purchased Microsoft 7 Professional and after downloading it I tried to install it, it immediately stops and shows me following:

Cannot findboot wim file

ERROR 0x80070002 cannot findboot.wim file

Therefore the system is stuck and upgrade cannot be done. Does anyone else have same problem and know how to fix this? Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hi Morrison,

The error 0x80070002 cannot findboot. wim file is generated when the system is unable find a specific boot file in your Windows installation. Probably you have a corrupt copy of the download and are trying to re-download it. This is also caused when the system partition is out of space to expand Windows files.

So make sure there is enough space in your hard disk for expanding setup files. You can also try to run System Update Readiness Tool and reboot your system. After updating the Windows immediately, you can replace the incorrect versions of system files to the correct version by running a scan with the System File Checker tool.

Hi good day,

This kind of problem occurs due to missing file programs or some of the files could be corrupted.  You have no other choice but need to repair or make a new installation of the Windows,

  1. Restart your laptop press F2 or delete key to enter BIOS setup.>>go to boot sequence >>>First boot>> CD-Rom
  2. Insert CD installer into your CD-ROM
  3. Save and exit>>YES.  Your laptop will be rebooting.  After reboot you will see in the screen, press any key to continue. Press enter.

NOTE: Read carefully and follow the procedure during installation.

Thank you and good luck.
