AVG or AVAST, which is the best?

Someone please help me find the right Antivirus.

I am now using AVG Internet Security 2010. Previously I have used Avast.

But I could not figure out which Antivirus is the best.

Can any expert help me about that?

I want to choose between Avast & AVG and suggest me the best between them.

Laptop keeps shutting down after around one hour of use

I have a 2- year old Compaq Presario that keeps shutting down after around one hour of use. Problem started a year ago and keeps on repeating. These are the things I have already done to revive my laptop:

  1. Cleaned the fan and heat sink. 
  2. Applied thermal paste to the heat sink.
  3. Reformatted the laptop.
  4. Installed updated anti-virus and made sure there are no malwares and Trojan.
  5. Brought my laptop to the service center.
  6. My laptop would be functioning well for around a week after I tried to fix it but it will start shutting down again. Is there any other way to truly fix...

Windows 7 EMU Sound Card Problem

Hello guys.

 I just installed the windows 7 and I’m having this irritating major problem. I got an EMU 1212 PCI sound card (aside from the built-in Realtek).
 
The problem is it will just work once for a while then after that I start hearing distorted sounds on the output. And now I have to disable the card and use the motherboard sound instead I never had this kind of problem in XP but in Windows 7 it crashes.
 
I tried reinstalling the latest EMU drivers 3 times, and I've tried the Windows 7 compatibility troubleshooter 3 times without success.

Windows has detected a Registry/Configuration Error

Good day!

Anyone who can help me please in this concern?

I turned on my PC yesterday and I was surprised with this error code that appeared on my computer monitor’s screen “Warning: Windows has detected a registry/configuration error. Choose Safe Mode to start Windows. ”

I followed the command prompt instruction and choose Safe Mode but only the black blank screen had appeared and nothing had happened afterwards.

I kept on restarting my PC by pressing the power button but the error had been repeatedly occurring again and again.

Cannot find a bootable device.

I have turned on my Desktop computer two days back. I was deeply frustrated on what it did to me. I was hoping to finish up an important assignment but it said that no bootable device is found.

I consulted a local technician over the phone. He said that it could be a hardware problem, that the hard disk would have been dead. So I need to replace it. And one of my friends said something about, the boot priority, but I was not able to understand that.

Set up operating system without cd-rom

Hello, I am here with a very complex problem indeed. I am a laptop user. I am using Windows XP in my laptop.

Fedora 15 Upgrade Problem issue

Hi,

I am using windows XP with Fedora 14 on my computer. When i upgraded from fedora14 to Fedora15 (Lovelock – Released Yesterday) everything installed perfectly.

I have installed Grub on partition 1 of the hard-disk. Its was loading properly and fedora was booting up, but i was not able to get the login screen. I am getting a cursor moving on black screen with white spots on the screen.

I tried Google search and re-upgrading fedora15 which took just 15 minutes 2nd time. But the problem is still the same.
