I have my windows working properly till night. In the morning when I tried to start my system, it is showing an error saying xpstar.dll missing. There is no new change in my windows from so many days, then why is this error may occur all of a sudden?
To work correctly, without DLL error Xpstar files are necessary for the laptop. There can be a malware attack on your system which may have corrupted the Xpstar files, due to which the error may have occurred. You can run a scan and check the missing Xpstar files and restore them from a trusted place. After replacing them, you should register through Microsoft REGSVR from command prompt administrator mode. If there are no permissions for SQL sever inn system32 then also you will get this error.
You may receive this error that the “xpstar.dll” file is missing when using Microsoft SQL Server. There are several reasons that could trigger this error. One is if the SQL Agent failed to start because the “xpstar.dll” file is missing from this path: “C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL_version_instanceName\MSSQL”. Open Windows Explorer then navigate to this location and verify that the file exists.
If the file is indeed missing, one workaround is to install the latest Service Pack for Microsoft SQL Server to replace the old DLL file. Another reason that might trigger this error is when the logon account of SQL Server Agent Service doesn’t have sufficient rights. To fix this, open the SQL Server Configuration Manager and set log on as built-in account which has the admin privilege.
