Hi,

I have this error in Event log.

The shadow copies of volume C: were aborted because the shadow copy storage failed to grow.

What does this mean

Hi H. George,

The only solutions I can suggest is that you need to move the storage area for all the shadow copies that you have created for the volume hosting the hyper machine into another volume. When the I/O load is load, I suggest you to make a back up. You can also check out the links below for more information:

I’m not sure what application you are using but since it mentions something about shadow copy, it seems it is doing a backup activity on your system drive. If the shadow copy creates an image of the system drive that will be used as the backup copy, then I think it requires enough space in your hard drive.

When you see the error that says the shadow copy storage failed to grow, it means there is no more room available for another image file. This only means that your system drive has not enough space left for the new backup file. Since the task only creates backup copies, you can check how many backup files are stored in the shadow copy storage.

If there are already too many file in there, you can delete those old ones so you can free up some space. This will not harm your system since you are creating a new backup image now. After deleting old backup images, you can restart shadow copy and repeat the backup process.
