Hi Pro experts,

Installation of windows live Messenger went pretty well and good, without any problem. Happily when I try to sign in, the peculiar error message appeared. I checked internet connection and it is working perfectly. But why I am getting this error. Totally confused, what else is blocking me to sign in? Help please.

There are several remedies that can you try. Let’s start.

1. Check your time.

If the time of your PC is not right, fix it to the original time. Don’t forget about your time zone also.

2. Delete your data from the database completely

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Del. From the “Processes” tab, kill “msnmsgr.exe” and “wlcomm.exe” processes
  • Go to Windows Explorer >> Tools >> View tab.
  • Select “Show hidden files, folders and drives”. Press “Apply” and “OK”.
  • Go to C:Users<username>AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows LiveContacts and find out the folder containing your email address. Delete the folder.
  • Run Windows Live Messenger setup.

3. Make sure that your Windows Live Messenger is allowed to access the internet by your firewall.

4. Also check out your internet connection.

This time your problem should have gone.

Another solution would be that you have to re-enable Windows Live Sign-In Assistance.

To re-enable follow these steps

Step 1: Click start go into search bar type in msconfig.

Step 2: In msconfig go to services. Your screen should look like this, make sure that  Hide all Microsoft services is not clicked.

Step 3. Re-enable Windows Live Id Sign-In Assistant

This should resolve all issues
