I have two computers friends want fixed they wont go past the black screen when trying to load windows. Neither one of them made recovery disks ones a Toshiba and the other is an emachine. Is there a way for me to reformat these computers without disks? They both have their Windows activation code. Thank you in advance!

You cannot reformat your Windows 7 machine if you do not have the installation disk. Check if your laptop has a restore partition and then simply load it on your computer to start formatting. If your manufacturer did not include the Windows 7 installation disk then they might include a recovery partition or the factory image partition wherein you can launch when booting up.

Else, you need to make your own Recovery disk but if you cannot access your hard disk anymore or you found no recovery partition, then you may need to purchase another copy of Windows 7 disk.
