Reformat computer without a CD

Two friends of mine have had problems with their computers one has an emachine and the other a Toshiba neither one of them created install CDs but they both have Windows codes I believe both are running Windows 7. How can I reformat the computers with the CDs?

Reformat computer without a CD

Hi,

1. Download Ubuntu Linux ISO and burn it to a CD, use it as a LIVECD for you to try to recover any important documents they have.

2. After you made sure you recovered the files to another media you can use another Windows 7 cd with the same version as what is installed in their machines so that the key works with it. If you use a different version of Windows 7 it will not work.

Find the appropriate version of windows 7 IE Ultimate, professional, home basic, home premium or starter.

3. From there you can reformat the laptops just by installing the Windows OS.
