Where can we find how many websites are there in the world?
I know its a lame question but an interesting one though.

its interesting to ask a such a question
but practically its difficult give you a precision answer because at this moment also many new web sites arrive in to the field. there are some companies some IT bodies who calculate the number of websites of the world. from that kind of body you can get a idea that how many web sites are exist for the moment in WWW.
all the web site information are holding inside in major servers. these servers are called name servers. they have the all the addresses of the current websites in the world. but as a end user of the internet you will not able to gain direct access to these name servers due to security reasons. they are solving the name resolution of these web sites. if you can count the number of web addresses in side each root server and take the sum together and you will able to get the number of websites. but its not practical

Yeah that’s true, it’s a lame question. Other then the backbone of the internet there are so many domain servers which also serves another cloud of in the internet. Aside from that, every minute, so many websites are built around the word so it is impossible to count the exact number of websites.
I have some theories regard internet. Each domain on the backbone registered 1 IP address. Our IP configuration is composed of four 255 groups, therefore we have 2554 IP address available in the backbone. Computing that figure will result to 4,228,250,625 IP. I have read news saying almost all IP is occupied therefore; we have about 4 million websites existing all over the world.
