Please help me and give me some advise on how to protect my laptop from virus.
 And what exactly are computer viruses so that I am aware. Â

I think you need to have to download an Antivirus software on your computer. Â You can download a Norton Antivirus and it really works good and can be downloaded free. Try it!

Right now I am using McAfee and it's not good. Â It slows down my computer and seems that it never detects any threat. Â I always clear my cookies and cache to get rid of those tracking cookies. Â I will throw McAfee away and try your suggestion.
I think McAfee is a good Antivirus and I never got virus from it. Â I think the best way to protect your computer against virus is to run virus scans regularly and only download programs you can trust. And be aware, some Antivirus recommended by two people, sometimes those Antivirus are virus themselves.
I agree that the best way to get out of virus is not to run or download program that are not trusted  and I think you should use Antivirus that fits your computer. If this works for you better than this, then use that Antivirus. Just keep your Antivirus and spyware program updated at all times and run full scan for best results.
Bottomline is if McAfee is not working good for me, I will try another Antivirus that will make me satisfy. I will try Norton Antivirus. Â And I also agree that we must be careful always. If you do not know the source of an email for instance, delete it real time without opening the attachment. Your both suggestions really helped me a lot. Thanks for the ample time you have given to me solving my problem.
Yes! We all have freedom to choose, right? Â If you think this is not working good for you, then try to find another alternative and based on my experience Norton is a good Antivirus. I have used this and I heard nothing but good reviews from other people who also used it. I think it is pretty good. It is your standard Antivirus software which gives you the option to either scan the whole computer or some chosen parts of your entire system.
