You have heard very true. The Microsoft Configuration utility is good and you can make your PC's performance better with the help of it.
Type msconfig in RUN and press enter.
Microsoft configuration utility will open. Click on startup tab and you will see this window.
Remove ticks from all unnecessary startup files.
Then click on services tab and then you will see this window.
First click on hide all Microsoft services, then remove ticks from unnecessary services.
Now click on Apply and OK.
Restart the computer and enjoy.
