The error can be resolved by following the steps mentioned below:
1) Install the Samsung Kies on the computer
2) Remove the battery from the device and note the serial number of the device
3) Connect the device on the computer
4) Launch the Samsung Kies and navigate to 'Tools' > 'Firmware upgrade and installation'
5) Enter the device mobile number in the initialization window of the system
6) Click 'Start Upgrade' button and follow the instructions as stated by the system
7) When the device firmware is installed in the system, the success message will be displayed on the screen

If you have a Samsung Smartphone, there are two ways to update or install an update: first, via OTA and second, via Samsung Kies. When you update your phone via OTA, you need to connect your phone to the internet either via Wi-Fi connection or data connection then download the update to your phone and install it.

When you update via Samsung Kies, you need to connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable that came with it. In this method, updating is done by downloading the update on your computer via Samsung Kies and then installing the update to your phone.

But if you receive “Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again”, here’s how to fix it. Before starting, make sure your device is fully charged and take note of its serial number (“S/N”). You can find it inside the battery compartment.

To begin, start Samsung Kies then go to “Tools” and select “Firmware upgrade and initialization”. On the next screen, enter your device’s model number then click “OK”.

Next, enter your device’s “S/N” or serial number then click “OK”.

After this, Samsung Kies will prompt you to upgrade your device to the latest software version. Here, just click “OK”.

After this, you will see the firmware version and the message “Now initializing the latest version. All settings will be initialized, and stored data will be permanently deleted. Do you want to proceed?” Here, just click “OK”.

Now, wait until Samsung Kies is finished downloading the firmware upgrade components. After this, put your device in download mode by pressing volume down + home + power button simultaneously then press volume up to continue. Next, check “I have read all of the above information” then select either “Allow saving” or “Proceed without saving”.

Now, connect your phone to your computer via the USB cable then click “Start upgrade”. Samsung Kies will then begin downloading the latest firmware for your device. Don’t disconnect your device because downloading may take some time to finish depending on your internet connection’s speed. When you see the message “Emergency recovery of firmware completed”, you are finished. Click “OK” and you’re done.
