Hi there,

I installed Steam, but during the install I got this error message box. I have tried also, to install two different versions, but this error appears in both. Recently I have made some updates to my Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 (x32). Can anyone tell me if the updates are the problem with my steam and that’s why I can’t install it ?

Thanks !

I’m not surprised why this happen when you installed Steam on your computer. In the first place, Steam is not designed to run on your operating system even if you didn’t upgrade to Microsoft Windows 8.1 and still using Microsoft Windows 8. Steam is an online platform that will allow you to play different online games.

The Steam client you download and install from the Steam website is designed to run on Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. If you are using Microsoft Windows, it only runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. For Mac users, it supports Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard, 10.6.3 Snow Leopard, and higher versions.

So here, it’s pretty obvious that the client is incompatible with your operating system. So if you are willing to downgrade your operating system to Windows 7 then that’s the best way you can play it. But if you don’t have plans of downgrading your operating system, your best alternative to play Steam is to install Windows 7 on a virtual machine and then install Steam from there.
