Hello,

I have installed Steam on my MAC to play some games online with my friends, but this error stays me in the way of playing online. I have installed the same version as my friends did and I am the only one that have the problem. Can anyone help me please to fix this steam problem on my MAC ? Why I am the only one with this error ?

Thank you !

Steam requires that /Applications/Steam.app/Contents/MacOS be created on a case insensitive filesystem, with read—write access.

Steam requires read and write access on MAC

Since I’m not running a Mac operating system, I thought at first it’s kind of complicated to change the file’s or folder’s properties for different user access. But after learning about it it’s kind of interesting and it’s like I’m going back to school. Here is a table that best describes how you can modify the permissions of a file or a folder. See image.

Modifying the permissions on a file or a folder gets easily done using the Info window and you can change the permissions for users, groups, and everyone. Since your Steam client requires a folder that allows read and write access, go to “/Applications/Steam.app/Contents/” folder and click the folder MacOS to select it. Once the folder is selected, click File and select Get Info and you will get what is described in the image below. See image.

Click the triangle beside Sharing & Permissions. Click on the lock icon and authenticate using an administrator account. Under Privilege, modify the permissions for users and groups. Once you are finished, just close the Info window. Unlike in Microsoft Windows where you need to click Apply or OK for the changes to take effect, in Mac OS X, changes are applied immediately after you select the option or permission.
