Hi,

I was trying to uninstall SolidWorks eDrawings software from my sister’s laptop as she wanted to save on space given that she is no longer using the software, but the uninstallation process suffered a hitch and displayed the error message shown below.

Error message:

Error 142.Could not open key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWARECLASSESCLSID{1901660b-1697-432d-8fb9-56f7de702e9d}.

Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your personnel.

Hi,

First disable the Win7 User Account Control. The step by step process explained here for instructions. Now again try uninstalling the software from Windows control panel Add/remove programs.

You can also do it manually, follow the steps below:

  1. Run Registry Editor.
  2. Find and delete all registry entries of the program in:

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE
and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRunegui

      3. Also delete all files of the program in system folders:

C:Program Files,
C:Document and SettingsAll UsersApplication Data

and C:Documents and Settings%USER%Application Data.

    4. Take a system backup before as you perform the above tasks.
