Repairing Outlook 2007 using Scanpst.exe

I’m trying to repair a corrupted Outlook 2007 using Scanpst.exe file. I’ve tried running it for 3 consecutive times and then detecting errors and repairing the file at the same time. I plan to do this until Scanpst can detect no errors, which might result positive outputs in the past. However, on the 4th run, Scanpst reported several errors were found but there were no options to repair the file, and the backup file selection was grayed out. The only available selection was to press “OK” which simply results to the exiting of the Scanpst without repairing anything. I’ve tried closing and restarting all the apps that might access the data file but still no luck. Any of you knows possible solutions to this? I’d be grateful to those who can provide.

Is outlook working fine, or is it having some problems when you execute it? In case it is working properly then you do not need to panic. You will also need to check if those are indeed errors or they are just warnings for possible errors that might affect the system or outlook.

You can start restarting outlook application itself as you have already restarted the application and the problem still persists. You will need to:

  • Close outlook.
  • And then press control + alt + delete on your keyboard.
  • The task manager will be opened.
  • Click on the processes tab, and then close all processes that are being run by outlook.
  • Once you have done that, close the task manager and then restart outlook.

Hi Jennyln Pierce, I have read the issue on repairing a corrupted Outlook 2007 using Scanpst.exe file. Here are some of the helpful tips that will work. First you need to close your Outlook so we can troubleshoot it. Go to your Program Files for Microsoft office you will see a scan box that allows you to type the file name or you can browse, after that just hit the Start button so it will fix the problems. You will have a file for back up for the repair. When you open Outlook hit the Repair button and look for the Menu for you list of Folders. The Folders are named Recovered then you can start creating files again.

To those who responded, thank you so much for your help. I tried restarting outlook just as what you have instructed and ran the Scanpst. It wasn’t detecting errors anymore. It worked. This site is really great.
