I received an email from a moderator regarding my message board in the campus which I often used during my college days. I don’t remember any instance in which I used this board in public or in which I logged on to it carelessly without considering the place where I was. I am confused as to where the moderator got this message board. Could it be possible that he accessed this from my IP address? The software/hardware I am using is Google Chrome, Mac OS X 10.7.2. How can I protect myself and how will I know who this moderator is? Please help me solve this issue and to stop or prevent this from happening again. Thank you so much.

Preventing unauthorized access to your message board
Hallo Adson,
It you are using a campus network and especially a campus wireless network then the network moderator should be having the MAC addresses and all the IP addresses for all the computers that connect on the wireless network, yours included too.
So any action that might lead to violation to the network usage rights like using a lot bandwidth for downloads for accessing some sites that have been prohibited on the network are some of the causes as to why you are receiving the message from the moderator.
If you are doing none of the above, then you will need to contact the network administrator and let them fix the problem for you.

Preventing unauthorized access to your message board
Hi Adson,
Sorry for what you went through during that period. The product you may use to protect you IP address it Hide IP NG it is easy to use and helps you protect your IP address when you are surfing. The good thing with this product software is that you can test it freely before you decide to buy it.
To use it in your Google chrome you need to launch it and once it stops spinning and bring up a pop message which states Hide IP on then your address is automatically hidden. It works widely with Explorer, Firefox, opera and Netscape.
