I recently upgraded my Vista to Windows 7 and installed a new western digital hard drive. The guy at the shop transferred all my files into the new hard drive and also installed the new Windows. Everything was working fine there but when I reached home, my computer started hanging up after sometime. I checked the hard disk for any weird sounds but there were none. Can someone tell me; is there a problem with the Windows 7? Or is it a problem with my new hard disk? So I can change the damn thing and not risk losing my files.

PC hangs after changing new hard drive and upgrading to Windows 7
Hi Catherine,
I have a laptop with Windows Vista licensed version. Whenever I want to replace it, with other operating systems like Windows XP or Windows 7, it causes the same problem. This is due to the company’s internal configuration provided. So it may happen that you configure some of the applications properly but some of them have compatibility issues. So for solving this problem, you have to completely format your Windows Vista including your partition disk and then install a fresh copy of Windows 7. Hope it works as I do the same thing.

PC hangs after changing new hard drive and upgrading to Windows 7
Hi,
There are so many options to fix this kind of problem. Just follow the fist post of Tom Ridle and the second post of Jason19 but all that options will not work. Check your video card because sometimes the cause of computer hang-ups is the video card problem. Â If you have an extra video card, replace the old video card and insert the new video card into the PCI slot. Thank you, hope its helps.
