My VGA Fan is Not Working?

I'm using a 512mb ATI Raedon MSI graphics card on Windows 7.

About an hour ago, while I was playing Crisis 2 on it, the game crashed suddenly. I thought it was a problem with the game.

But the same thing happened with Alone in the Dark as well.

I opened my CPU Case, to see if anything was wrong with the hardware & then I noticed that the cooling fan was not working.

While everything else seems to be working fine.

Please tell me how to fix this?

Hi there,

Actually this problem implement that your computer automatically shutdown because the Video Card cannot hold enough heat anymore, I bet that it will work again when you rest it for a 1 day.

Remove the cable of the fan from the board of the video card. Then clean the fan with paint brush. Remove all dirt and dust so that the fan turns freely. Turn the fan blade to see if it easy to turn or not. If not, just rotate it for maybe 5 minutes or until the fun turns easily. You can also remove the fan blade by removing the sticker from the top and remove the C-Clamp connecting the rod for the fan blade. After removing it, clean the surface then put white grease on the rod but not on the coil and some other electrical parts of the fan.

  • Assemble back your fan then connect it on the video card board.
  • You can buy a fan for replacement to your nearest electronic store if you can't fix it by your self.
