My computer keeps shutting down automatically every 5 to 10 min, and all my work disappears in case is not saved. I have tried to perform a system restore, but the error is still recurring. No virus is detected by the antivirus.

Please help.

  • Computer shutdown without warning might be caused by computer settings, hardware failure, problems with incompatible software installed, Firewall, Antivirus software, hardware installed like printer, scanner and possible overheating of hardware components inside. Virus infection is not an issue because you've mention, no virus detected when you run Anti-Virus scan.
  • To check what the possible error might be, Go to Start and right click My Computer then select Properties. Click Advanced tab and on Startup and Recovery press Settings.
  • Under System Failure box, remove or uncheck "Automatically Restart" and click OK.
  • Once problem and error message is identify, then you can easily work on the possible solution. Find remedy to fix specific problem.

The computer restart automatically has many reason one there is an option in which user have to set time when the computer is idle to be turn off and the second reason is that when you computer is harmed by some viruses and some of the window files are deleted by viruses it then restart by it self. In either both case the computer restart and your computer also having one of this. Now the check which one you have. First install a registered anti-virus and update it and scan it. if it found viruses then it means that some of your window files are deleted and that's why your computer restart. if no viruses if detected then. check the window option for restart and uncheck it. thanks

Hello Dear,

Thanks that you have shared your problem with us.

Dear you are facing very critical situation.

Remote Procedure Call (RPC) is a service of Microsoft windows. And this service is generating this problem.

Dear your problem can be resolved by turning this service off, but if you turned off this service then your window will not work properly. Here i am going to tell you a solution.

Whenever you see this error just type "shutdown -a" in RUN and press enter.

At every time when you log on to windows, you have to apply this command.

Your problem will resolve only for one time by one command.

I hope it will help you a lot.

Dear Tekinologia,

This is a type of virus attack, but you cannot repair it with the help of an antivirus software. You can repair it with commands.

Whenever you see this error, type the following command in RUN.

Type “shutdown -a” and press enter, and it will stop the shutdown process. Now, type “msconfig” and it will stop the file that creates this problem. Thanks.
