MS-Visual C++ Runtime Library error while open MKV file in VLC Player

Hi People,

After installing the updated VLC and rebooted my computer, I got the error messages below when I tried to open an .mkv file, anyone with an idea of what the problem could be?

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application’s support team for more information. 

vlc.exe has stopped working

Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.

Check online for a solution and close the program

Close the program

Hi Gwendolynhunterr,

 

The problem is most likely in some wrong preferences or in the corrupted configuration file. 

 

The first thing to do is to reset the VLC preferences. You can do that in the preferences dialog of the VLC.

 

 

After resetting preferences, restart is necessary for changes to be applied. 

If it doesn't help, try deleting VLC's configuration file manually from the folder where your VLC is installed.
