I am encountering the error 2908 could not register component when I try to install the ArcGIS Desktop on my computer. I have attempted to reinstall it after deleting the file, but this doesn’t work for me.

Can somebody explain how could this problem be solved?

Learn How To Fix Error 2908 Could Not Register Component Issue.

Just follow these steps, and it will solve your problem:

1. Click on Start, then Control Panel and then click on Add/Remove Programs.
2. Next, remove all the installed Microsoft .NET Framework versions and any hotfixes of Microsoft .NET Framework.
3. Then, open a web browser and just go to the URL http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx.
4. After that, Install the Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1
5. Then, open a browser and then open the URL http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx.
6. Finally, install the Hotfix of Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.
