Hi mr. Adams,

There are certain ways on how to change the language of Iphone. For sure, first you must able to read Japanese to put it back to English language, but since some of us can’t read Japanese, here are the nearest solution that you could ever have.

If you have another friend has an Iphone, to serve as a guide line through these instructions, borrow and use it. Operate it together with the Iphone (Japanese).

Go to settings (you should be slightly familiar with the screen)

Tap on "General", and then scroll down a little bit to locate “International”

When you found it, tap on that and you'll see the “iOS”. It’s like a capable little operating system, that able to change a certain elements to work with different language.

When you see the “Language”, tap on it and you’ll going to see a remarkable number of choices. Tap on “English so that you could change the language from Japanese to English.

I hoped this helps!

If that’s the case, the only thing you can do is change the language on the phone itself. I’m not sure if this will also change the language used by the apps because sometimes apps have their own setting for language. But this would help to allow you to navigate within the phone.

To change the language used on your iPhone, go to “Settings”, “General”, “Language & Region”, and then tap “[device] Language”.

Select “English” from the language list then tap “Done”. Confirm the action by tapping “Change to English”. After this, your iPhone should return back to the Home screen and display the selected language. This is the normal steps to change the language on the iPhone but if it looks different like what happened to one user, you may try this.

Go to “Settings”, “General”, “International” (this is the 12th option or choice), “Language” (this is the first choice), and then “English” (this is the first choice). That should do it. After this, you may need to check every app if the language has changed to English from Japanese.
