IPhone could not be synced; sync session failed to start

Yesterday I was able to sync my iPhone without problems. When I tried it again today, I am receiving error from iTunes stating that my iPhone could not be synced because the sync session failed to start. I can perfectly see my iPhone connected with iTunes but after clicking the sync button, it just keeps on loading followed with the error message. I even try on Wi-Fi but to no luck. How can I fix this? Help please. Thank you.

This problem usually occur when you upgraded to iOS 5, as iOS 5 seems not stable yet.

Here is a fix for your problem.

First, back up your backup first.

If your are using Mac, go to : ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

or if your are using w7/vista go to : Users(YourCompName)AppDataRoamingApple ComputerMobileSyncBackup

after that,

  • Connect your device and open iTunes,
  • Go to Preferences>Devices and delete all backups
  • Click Ok and Restart iTunes and try to sync your device again.

Sincerely,

Michael

Is your iPhone jailbroken? This could be an error caused by jailbreaking your iPhone. iTunes would have difficulty syncing itself with your phone because the system files of your phone have been altered. If the phone is not a jailbroken iPhone though, then try uninstalling and reinstalling your iTunes software. Make sure you install the latest version from Apple after you have uninstalled it from your computer. If that doesn't work, try to do a Restore on your phone. Data corruption may have happened since your last sync session. If that fails, you may need to have your iOS 5 software restored to default settings (Reset/Wiped) and have the contents of the phone deleted and have it start from scratch. This should fix it if worse comes to worst.
