Hello techyV,
I ran the installation for VMware Server 2 (“VMware-server-2.0.0-116503.exe") on Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 with Windows Vista operating system and got the following error:
VMWare Product Installation
Setup cannot continue. The Microsoft Runtime DLL installer failed to complete installation.
I've tried running the same process as an administrator but I got the same result.

Installation of VMware Server 2 on Windows Vista OS
I think VMWare stops their supports to VMWare Server 2.0.x and as far as I know this software runs only in Microsoft Windows XP. VMWare has a lot of development today, why not to try their other products. You may find them in their website https://www.vmware.com/.
VMWare Workstation 8 is their latest software for creating virtual machines. This software or application has the latest technology, and you can now run multiple virtual machines in just one interface. You don’t need to have another interface to run one more virtual machine. You can operate interactively in just one server from a virtual machine to another virtual machine in just one interface.
