Hi Experts,

I have faced a problem with my Skype. While opening the application it showed an error message at the bottom

DX Error 0x8876017C. I do not know what to do?

Skype is must to me. I am afraid of my Skype will not work any more.

Please help.

Hi Judith Lauren,

Most of the time this caused by problems with Direct3D acceleration.

You can try this

  • Click “Start” and type “ %appdata%skype”. Enter  and  delete 'shared.xml.
  • again “Start”> Run> "dxdiag.exe"
  •  Disable "Direct3D Acceleration" from there. After disable  Reinstall your Graphics Adapter Driver

Some time you can’t disable 3d acceleration. But you can change the option how 3D acceleration is used by different applications. This will depend on your graphic driver. Open graphic card control panel and find the option to change the 3D setting. If there is option like “Let the 3D application decide” or similar, select this option.
