HP Windows 7 Laptop Battery Animation Issue

After installing Windows 7 into my HP 6910p Laptop, I noticed that the battery indicator, when plugged the adapter in, the indicator animated at times and other times it don't.

As of now, it animates when I am doing simple job like typing this post.

If I will try to install a program and leave my computer alone, the battery indicator stops animating.

I want to know now if the battery is working correctly or if there's something wrong with it. I need advices.

Thank you.

Maybe that is only how your laptop behaves. It doesn’t necessarily mean that it is broken or something if the battery indicator is not animating whenever you insert its adapter.

Like in my sister’s laptop, the battery’s icon in the system tray animates for a while and then stops every time the battery charger is connected. But if I would check it in the Power Options in the Control Panel, the battery animates while it is being charged.

If you are not convinced, run a disk check on your computer to see if there is any error.

  1. Right click on drive C and then select Properties.
  2. Click Tools tab.
  3. Click Check Now button.
  4. Check Automatically fix file system errors and the hit Start.

Or maybe update your antivirus and then run a full system scan on your computer to see if there is any virus that is affecting the animation of the battery indicator.

Hi Brew,

Your laptop is completely OK, trust me.

Unlike xp and vista where the battery indicator animates from the moment you connect the charger to a power source till the battery is full, windows 7 will allow the indicator to animate for a short while and then stop, but if you check the status of the battery indicator you will realize that the percentage of the charge is increasing hence proving that it is indeed charging.

So that is how windows 7 behaves sometimes, I am not sure if all versions of windows 7 do that but the one I am using which is ultimate does that but it is perfectly in good condition.

Hope this helps.

Lee Hung.
