My computer was installing Windows updates just as usual. After restarting the system, it showed some updates were not installed successfully. It gave the windows error code 646. What does this error code mean? Is it possible to do something about it?

How To Remove Windows Error Code 646

This error is generally associated with Microsoft Office. This error usually occurs when Windows tries to install updates through the Windows installer. This is associated with updates regarding Microsoft Office. Errors like these occur when updates are installed through a Windows or third-party firewall.

Both Windows and third-party firewalls sometimes prevent the computer from installing updates. You need to disable your firewall and then install the updates. Please note that disabling the firewall can put your computer in a vulnerable position especially when connected to the internet. Also, Microsoft does have its own repair tool that you can use if you do not want to or do not know how to disable the firewall.
