To scan your disk first insert your disk into the disk drive and in my computer windows select the drive. Right-click on the drive of the disk.

Click properties and choose the tools tab.

Click on Check, to start the scanning.

If the system finds any error it will ask you to check, if not it will display a message that ‘you that you don’t need to scan this drive.’

If you have old discs and you want to check them if they are still readable, you can use the CHKDSK utility, the built-in drive utility in Microsoft Windows. You can use it either on the command prompt or from the Windows Explorer. To try this, insert your disc on your optical drive. When it is loaded, start Windows Explorer then right-click your optical drive and select “Properties.”

On the next screen, select “Tools” tab and click “Check Now” under “Error-checking” section. Click “Start” to begin the scan. Since you are checking a CD or DVD disc, you don’t need to check any of the boxes on the dialog.

Another tool you can use to check your discs is PC Tools Performance Toolkit. Follow the instructions to download and unpack.
