I usually play offline games on my computer but then I decided to try some online games and one is “Elsword”. For about a month, the game worked pretty well with not a single problem. But just recently, I started receiving “Error update GameGuard (Error Code: 100)” whenever I start the game client.

How do you fix this error with GameGuard?

With GameGuard, error code “100” means your computer is infected with a virus. GameGuard is not an antivirus that monitors the system for malicious code. GameGuard or “nProtect GameGuard” and sometimes called “GG” is an anti-cheating rootkit developed by INCA Internet and is widely implemented in many online games. It is designed to block possible malicious applications and prevent the usual methods of cheating.

To fix the problem, update your antivirus and perform a full system scan. You may also try using Sophos Virus Removal Tool. It is not an antivirus but a tool to remove viruses. It works alongside any antivirus program you may have. Once installed, start Sophos then wait for the virus signature database to get updated. When updating is complete, click to start scanning your computer.

The tool scans everything on your computer including external devices connected via USB port. When a virus is found at the end of the scan, remove it then repeat the scan over and over until it no longer detects a virus. When it is finished, restart the computer then start the game client again. See if this works.
