Hi
Could someone please help me find out what my exchange server is? I’m at the office right now and we don’t really have an IT guy designated for our company. What I’m trying to do right now is set-up my Outlook 2003 in my PC here at work. I was trying to search things out from the web but I wanted to get an advice from you guys on what step to do next. I am using Windows XP and setting up my work email on it. And I also want to ask what’s the right way to set this up, just to make sure that my email will be up and running in no time. Thanks!
How do I know my exchange server for our work email?
Hello Justin!
I'd be very glad to help! For you to be able use your email account on an exchange server, you have to use the settings required to connect to that Exchange server. You will need your work email username domain name, a working password and of course your exchange server. Are you familiar with OWA or Outlook Web Access?
I’m sure you access your email at home from your web browser. What you will do is open you Internet Explorer/ Firefox or any web browser and then take note of the URL/ website of your Outlook Web Access email. This will be your exchange server just remove the http:// and the /owa/.
To set-up your Outlook 2003, first Go to Control Panel. Click on Mail icon. Select add new email account then Microsoft Exchange Server. Then type your exchange server the username is the network login that you use for your computer or it should be your email username or full email address, click on check name. It is important that the name will have an underline after you do this or else you can’t proceed. Click on more settings then the Security Tab and check the box that says "Encrypt data between Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange Server". Press OK.
Then on the drop down that says deliver new e-mail to the following location. Please Select your mailbox. Click Finish. Take note Justin that you have to wait for a couple of minutes for your emails to sync or completely come in.
I hope this helps.
