Recently I purchased a portable DVD player and today tried to update its firmware to latest version. Firmware easy home DEV portable player failed to update in the middle and I was hoping if someone knows the cause and how to rectify this problem? Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Are you running the Firmware easy home DEV portable player update online or from a directory on your computer? If you are updating the firmware online, then it could be failing to update in the middle because of several reasons:

You might be having an unstable connection to the internet and therefore the update files cannot be downloaded successfully from the internet. You will need to check your computer for internet connection issues.

Make sure that the network cables are connected and working properly. If you are using wireless connection make sure that you have a strong signal.
If you are updating from a directory on your computer, the update packages you are using could be corrupt and therefore you will need to download new ones.
