Failure importing IFC files to ArchiCAD

Hello All,

I face an issue with importing ifc files to ArchiCAD since updating my IFC export plugin. The export plugin seems to have stopped working and I get an error every time I try to import. The message reports an inconsistency during IFC file read operation and elements are not imported at all or only half gets imported. I used Open command to launch IFC model as a separate ArchiCAD file independent of any other project. Then I attempted importing the file to my project as a Hotlinked module. But somehow this does not work for me. Can anyone please help me with importing of IFC files? Thank you for spending your time on resolving this issue.

Yes, you can use the Open command to open the IFC model as an individual ArchiCAD file. This is separate from any other project that ArchiCAD has opened. The imported file can then be later added or maybe a portion of it as a reference to the suitable part of another ArchiCAD project being a Hotlinked Module.

Since I think this method doesn’t work for you, try using Merge to add the IFC model content to the project that is presently running in ArchiCAD or maybe portion of it. The data of a merged model are transformed into local ArchiCAD elements which you can then use as an editable or protected reference.

As a reference, the imported content is detached from the host project elements and it can be shown independently or together from the original project by selecting a visualization method.
